Next week marks one year since the death of 2‑year‑old Alex Hill. The lesser publicized death of 19‑month‑old of Paydin Len Grogg was only a few days prior. Both children were murdered by a person to whom their safety had been entrusted. Both included in the list of 156 Texas child fatalities due to abuse in 2012. Each death with it’s own unique importance.
Paydin Grogg represented 1 of the 146 children who died due to abuse in the general population; down from 210 in 2012 and a high of 280 in 2009. This marked a 30% decrease in abuse deaths in the general population. Paydin was in the care of his parents.
