Foster kids get, give life lessons at summit

WESTBORO — A lot of good things have happened to 18-year-old Kayla J. Courtney since she was taken from her biological parents 2½ years ago and placed in foster care.

She said after the state Department of Children and Families removed her from the Millbury home of her biological parents because of abuse and neglect, she was placed with a loving and nurturing family in Sutton that she knew from church. She graduated high school and now she’s headed to college, tuition free.
