Children are supposed to do their very own thing
This report (Aug. 24) on drugged children in the foster system was sickening, and I thank you for shedding light on this intolerable situation. Children’s lives should not be destroyed this way. Diana Dooley, secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency, and Will Lightbourne, director of Social Services, and Toby Douglas, director of Health Care Services, are those who hold the health and welfare of our children in their hands and are to blame for this situation.
Children and adolescents are supposed to be a little wild and free; that’s what growing up is about. They are not supposed to be being made into a drugged-out robots by the people who the state or county has hired to house and feed the child.
