Former foster youth find fresh start at expanding Tender Greens

The team behind fast-casual salad chain Tender Greens has a mission for mindful eating.

“We believe there should be a conscious connection between the one who eats their food and the source of that sustenance,” reads the company web site.

The menus at all the locations — two in the Bay area and 14 in Southern California — are sustainably sourced from partnerships with local farms and ranches, boutique wineries and craft breweries, and as the chain prepares to launch its third Bay Area locale on 266 King Street, it’ll stick to a similar format, said founder Erik Oberholtzer.
