A Riverside County couple who operated a collection of group homes in the Los Angeles County foster-care system have been arrested on suspicion of embezzling more than $460,000, authorities said Thursday.
CSJ Kidogo, 73, executive director of Little People’s World Inc., and his wife, Hitaji Kidogo, 63, the company’s assistant executive director, were arrested in their Banning home Thursday. They have been charged with 22 counts of misappropriation of public funds and embezzlement, according to a Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office statement.
“I am pleased to announce that Little People’s World Group Homes will be closing soon because of these arrests today,” District Attorney Jackie Lacey said in a statement. “Money intended to care for children in foster homes instead lined the pockets of the executives who ran the programs. We take these crimes very seriously.”
