Every face has a story to tell. The 48 children staring back at shoppers from portraits on display in the mall have something in common: They are all part of the Alabama foster care system and have a desire to be adopted into a loving family.
Heart Gallery Alabama displays pictures of children, usually ages 8 to 13, who are legally available for adoption in the J.C. Penney wing of University Mall throughout October to promote adoption of children in the Alabama foster care system.
“Not only do we want to get these children adopted, but we want people to know that there are children right here in Alabama that need to be adopted,” said Joycelyn Haywood, marketing and communications manager for Heart Gallery Alabama. “You don’t have to go overseas. There are children right here in our backyard.”
