The baby found in a Jacksonville dumpster will stay in foster care, at least until there’s a hearing sometime later this month.
A temporary custody hearing was initially scheduled for last Thursday. The baby’s mother, a 17-year-old from Jacksonville, faces attempted first degree murder charges.
The baby was found in August, then placed in a temporary guardianship of DCFS, and then in foster care.
DCFS would like to place the child with his maternal grandmother, but the Morgan County State’s Attorney objects. That office plans to call five people to testify later this month.
